Things That Irritate Me on Wednesdays

In the spirit of "keeping things real", we have decided to start a tradition of "Things I Hate Wednesdays". Let's face it, people are rarely tight lipped or short of things to say when it comes to dicussing what makes them mad. In fact, people are often known to share those things with complete strangers (herein creating a pet peeve in itself: when a complete stranger complains and rants to you). We'd like to make the ranting and raving a little less awkward.

Today's Agenda: Captain Obvious
Many things in life are self-explanitory, or just plain obvious. Unfortunately, there are those who seem to enjoy pointing these things out, as if they were freaking Colombus. Which, is actually a pretty accurate title for these kinds of people, considering that Colombus didn't "discover" anything.

Today's inspiration comes from a personal experience of one of the founders of this blog; Melissa. Melissa's a very fun, outgoing person, who practically radiates self-confidence. Yet, everyday, somebody feels the need to remind Melissa that she is incredibly skinny. As if, in all the years she's dressed herself, she never noticed the size 0 label on her jeans, or never owned a mirror.

At this point many of you are probably thinking: big deal, I would killllll for people to constantly tell me I'm skinny. Consider it from her perspective. Melissa already knows she's skinny, there are no misillusions or poor image issues. Anyone who knows her could tell you that. it's not a matter of being skinny or not, it's a matter of people constantly telling her something that she very clearly already knows. Imagine someone walking up to you and saying, in all sincerity, "Your eyes are SO blue". Imagine this scenario happening everyday, constantly. Though it may be good natured, it's hard to deny how irritating it would be.
